Great Is His Love

For great is your love, reaching to the heavens; your faithfulness reaches to the skies.—Psalm 57:10 (NIV)
Dwell on this verse until it becomes an unshakeable truth in your life. Build up your spirit, day by day, with the power of God’s presence in your life and His eternal love for you. No matter what happens, nothing can separate you from His love and protection.
Lord, I praise You for Your faithfulness!

Spring in Your Spirit

For behold, the winter is past; the rain is over and gone. The flowers appear on the earth, the time of singing has come, and the voice of the turtledove is heard in our land.—Song of Solomon 2:11–12 (ESV)
Today is the first day of spring. Take time to bask in God’s love. Trust that just as nature is blossoming, God’s work is taking root in your life. When you trust Him and nurture your spirit with His Word, peace and contentment will grow and flourish.
Heavenly Father, thank You for spring, when everything is bursting with new life, inspiring me to renew my commitment to You.

The Power of Humility

All of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another.—1 Peter 5:5 (NIV)
St. Augustine wrote, “If you should ask me what are the ways of God, I would tell you that the first is humility, the second is humility, and the third is humility. Not that there are no other precepts to give, but if humility does not precede all that we do, our efforts are fruitless.” A humble heart is essential to spiritual growth.
Lord, help me to walk humbly with You. Replace any feelings of pride or arrogance with love of service for Your glory.

God’s Favor

You have granted me life and favor, and Your care has preserved my spirit.—Job 10:12 (NKJV)
God shines goodness on you every day. Seek His face and trust that He has poured His light into you so that you are a beacon of His goodness to others. Thank Him for the glorious gift of His spirit shining through your life.
Dear God, Your care preserves my spirit. You have granted me life and favor.

Lorica of St. Patrick

For the Lord God is a sun and shield: the Lord will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly.—Psalm 84:11 (KJV)
Today, as we celebrate St. Patrick’s Day, pray a portion of the beautiful prayer for protection that is said to come from his breastplate.
I arise today, through God’s strength to pilot me, God’s might to uphold me, God’s wisdom to guide me, God’s eye to look before me, God’s ear to hear me, God’s Word to speak for me, God’s hand to guard me… and God’s shield to protect me.

See God’s Tiny Treasures

The Lord bless you and keep you.—Numbers 6:24 (NIV)
Most people miss some of God’s most beautiful blessings and gifts simply because they are too busy to notice. Today, slow down. Look around you for tiny treasures that He has sent to brighten your day.
Heavenly Father, thank You for the tiny treasures that bless me with Your great love.

Lead Me to the Rock

From the ends of the earth I call to you, I call as my heart grows faint; lead me to the rock that is higher than I.—Psalm 61:2 (NIV)
In the above verse, David was alone and far from home when he cried out for help. “My heart is overwhelmed,” he told the Lord. When you are distressed, pray for God, the Rock of Salvation, to bring you comfort and stability.
Lord, when my heart grows faint, lead me to a Rock that is higher than I.

Poor and Needy

Hear me, Lord, and answer me, for I am poor and needy.—Psalm 86:1 (NIV)
David calls himself “poor and needy” a handful of times in the Psalms. When you talk to God, do you openly admit your feelings with the same honesty? What exactly do you need from Jesus? Is it something earthly, or a desire of your heart? Is it simply to feel His presence and know He is your true source of comfort? Reach out and tell Him.
Lord, I am poor and needy…

Rely on the Lord

But now even more the report about him went abroad, and great crowds gathered to hear him and to be healed of their infirmities. But he would withdraw to desolate places and pray.—Luke 5:15–16 (ESV)
When life becomes overwhelming, remember Jesus’ example. Step back away from others, go to a quiet place and pray. He is the Savior. He can instill the strength and power you need to carry on. Lay your burdens at His feet knowing that quiet time and trust enhance your awareness of His presence.
Dear God, sometimes I forget that I don’t need to handle everything on my own. When I am weak, You are strong.

Your Best Defense

Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.—Mark 14:38 (NKJV)
Jesus taught that your best defense against temptation is prayer. When you keep His Word close, you are better prepared to overcome any situation that tests your spirit. Ask Jesus for the wisdom to walk away when you need to.
Lord, You have prepared the perfect way for me to ward off temptation. Fill me with Your strength.

Walk in the Light

Walk in the light, as he is in the light…—1 John 1:7 (ESV)
Gratitude brings light to your spirit! When you focus on your blessings and praise God for the many great experiences, people and gifts He has given you, your entire perspective changes. Train yourself to fight the dark feelings of worry and want with “light” feelings of gratitude.
God, You are the giver of all good things. Because of You, even in my darkest hour I know that my life will soon be better.

Go the Right Way

If you go the wrong way—to the right or to the left—you will hear a voice behind you saying, “This is the right way. You should go this way.”—Isaiah 30:21 (NCV)
Jesus provides guidance on the best pathway for your life. When you are headed in the wrong direction, He can guide you back to the right path. Make it part of your prayer practice to check in with Him and ask for reassurance that you are on track.
Lord, guide me on this journey of life!
